SIMATIC Ident - RFID Systems - Code Reading Systems: Rf660r Device Software Refresh crash

I want to configure my device for operating in DHCP mode. When I try to set the ethernetConfig parameter configuration through the configuration tool the device is not responding and time out. I was told by italian support to download the latest firmware version to the device (it wasn't an updated because my reader was bought few month ago and came with V1-2(01-02-00-00_01-19) firmware and V0.44.2 fpga). I start the procedure as described in the manual and in the website and the download after some minutes completes cuccessfully (progress bar green filled and succeded messages !) so I press ok and wait for the three led lights off. I was waiting for 1 hour but the three leds still standing... I power off the device and reconnect the cable after 30 seconds but the three leds lights on again and the tool configuration cannot connect... what I have to do ?

DHCP Configuration Issue & Firmware Update Stuck

It appears you're facing issues configuring your device for DHCP after attempting a firmware update. The fact that the update *seemed* successful (green progress bar) but the device is now unresponsive with all three LEDs lit indicates a potentially corrupted or incomplete firmware application.

Here's a breakdown of troubleshooting steps, leveraging SiePortal resources:

  1. Force Firmware Re-application: Despite the initial "success" message, the firmware likely didn't apply correctly. Attempt the firmware update process *again*, ensuring a stable connection throughout. Do not interrupt the process, even if it takes a considerable time.
  2. Check Power Supply: A fluctuating or inadequate power supply can cause firmware corruption during updates. Ensure a stable power source.
  3. Serial Console Access: If the device remains unresponsive, accessing the serial console may provide diagnostic messages. Refer to the device's manual (available on Siemens Industry Online Support) for instructions on serial console configuration.
  4. Recovery Mode: Your device might have a recovery mode. Check the device manual for specific instructions. This usually involves a specific key combination during power-up.
  5. Contact Technical Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, open a support request through Siemens Industry Online Support. Provide details of your attempts, firmware versions (before & attempted), and any error messages you encountered.

Important: Refer to the device's specific documentation on the SiePortal for detailed firmware update instructions and troubleshooting guides. Searching SiePortal with keywords like "firmware update failed", "device unresponsive" and your specific device model number will likely yield relevant KBs and FAQs.
