I have configured an MES system which communicates via 4 OPC servers. The plc's are a combination of 317dp with cp343lean cards and 319PN/DPs. (45 in total). The MES system interface isnt the cleverest (out of the box functionality), so for redundancy it simply moves over to one of the other servers when a tag fails - takes it about 20 seconds to realise this and then make the change
, resulting in each plc having more than one S7 comms session open.
Although this is not the problem, the problem occurs when you then go on line to a plc which then drops out the OPC conection to the MES system and therefore l loose data etc..
I cannot find a definative answer as to how many S7 connections I can have or how much influence in the number can changing the plc time dedicated to communication have on it?
Help and advice is appreciated.
