Communication / Networks: No Ind. Network Connection Point Choice Within Primary Configuration Tool

I'm using the primary setup tool for assigning IP addresses and giving names.  I'm referring to Scalance switches.  There's a few switches that are shown that have no IP addresses.  I can give names to the devices but the Ind. Ethernet interface option is not available.  So I can't give the IP addresses to those devices.  I am accessing these devices over the network from an engineering station.  I connected to one of the switches locally and I can name it and give an IP with no problem.  I can go back to the engineering room and I still can't access the interface options over the tool.  After locally giving a device an IP, I can access the web browser.  I don't understand why I'm not seeing some of the interface options through the tool at the engineering station but I can when I connect locally.  Any ideas on this??
