Hello people,
I'm having a strange problem when I try to archive/disarchive project in my laptop:
- if the compressed project is in
two
subfolder level from theroot level of my hard drive, I fail to archive/disarchive: "error number 3020:46" when disarchive; no error when create the archive but the file is not present in the target path;
- if the compressed project is in
one
subfolder level in my drive all works properly.
These are the conditions that I have been checked:
- My login account is a member of administrator of the machine;
- I give to user "Everyone" the full control in the security settings of the main folder;
- I tried to disable the antivirus protection (Eset Smart Security 10);
- I set the "8dot3" property to "Enable" for all the volume,
- I tried to repair the installation with the DVD;
- I tried to create a new folder from the disk root and a subfolder inside and the result is the same;
OS is Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 with Step 7 Pro 5.5 SP4.
Thanks!

Problem in Archiving the program in Step 7 ?

Hello, This issue (error 3020:46 & archive creation failure with deeper folder structures) in Step 7 V5.5 SP4 on Windows 7 is often related to path length limitations or file access rights despite administrator privileges. **Resolution:** 1. **Shorten Path:** As a workaround, keep project archives within a single subfolder from the root drive. 2. **SiePortal Search:** Search SiePortal (using keywords "Step 7 archive error 3020:46", "long path names") for similar cases and potential hotfixes/workarounds specific to V5.5 SP4. 3. **Consider Upgrade:** Evaluate upgrading to a newer Step 7 version which may have improved file handling. Please let me know if you need assistance with SiePortal searching. **Siemens Self Support**
